It’s the most wonderful time of the year, the perfect time for a festive winter wedding. At St Tewdrics House we host incredible weddings through all the seasons, and we’ve learned a thing or two about planning a wedding in accordance with the time of year. Winter Weddings are becoming increasingly popular, so our team of wedding planners have put together some great advice if you’re planning a winter wedding.
Choosing your Venue
We understand that choosing your wedding venue is one of the biggest decisions you will make and if you’re planning a wedding in the winter, you might have the weather to contend with. We would advise having everything at one venue so that you and your guests don’t have to travel in between. At St Tewdrics House, as well as offering exclusivity to our venue during your wedding day, we also have nine bedrooms throughout our Estate so twenty of your guests can stay in one place, preparing for the wedding and enjoying some time together afterward. Don’t forget to ask your venue if it is exclusively reserved for you, if you’re wanting a private wedding, then this question is really important!
Timing of the Day
Regardless of the time of year, you’re always going to need an order of the day, so you and your guests know where you need to be and when. However, at this time of year when the days are shorter and the nights are longer, you might need to put a little more thought into how you want your day to run, particularly if you want some outdoor photos in the daylight. Our wedding team can give you some great suggestions of some beautiful spaces within the St Tewdrics Estate to capture those picture-perfect photos.
Choosing Your Décor
If you’re having a wedding in December, when it comes to the décor, you’re probably going to want to decide whether you want to go down the Christmas festive theme, or a winter theme. It’s a good idea to look online for some inspiration to get a feel of what you like. Save everything you like the look of and start collating a dream wedding board so you can see all the bits and pieces together. Pinterest is a great place to start, and our team at St Tewdrics can also show you some décor examples from this time of year.
Festive Favourites
It’s still a popular tradition to give your guests a little gift as a thank you or a memento for their attendance at your wedding. It’s often a difficult decision knowing what favourites to give. Some great winter-themed favourites include; hand warmers, sparklers, or maybe even a warm blanket.
Festive Drinks
You can’t beat a warm drink to help keep you toasty and cozy on a cold winter’s day. When deciding on your drink’s menu, you might want to ask your venue if they can include winter drinks like hot chocolate, mulled wine or cider. At St Tewdrics House, our select caterers all offer flexibility and can create a bespoke menu for you and your partner, so you can add your own personal touch to every aspect of your day.
Your Winter Wardrobe
Remember, if you’re planning a winter wedding, it’s likely to be cold outside, so you will want to choose suitable attire. Woollen suits dresses with long sleeves, shawls, and throw overs to help keep you and your wedding party warm are a great idea.
