After getting engaged, the next crucial decision is when to start the next chapter of your life together. Is a cosy winter gathering or a sizzling summer event more your thing? Do you like the idea of pretty flowers blossoming in the background, or a beautiful carpet of autumn leaves creating a dramatic backdrop? Here’s what to consider before sending out those ‘save the dates’.
Spring
As nature bursts with colour, unless your day clashes with Easter Sunday, you should end up with a full guest list as you’re not competing with any big holidays that might be pre-booked by loved ones. What’s more, the soft breeze in spring will keep you cool in whichever outfit you choose.
Spring at St Tewdrics House offers a fresh vibe for your wedding celebration with longer days and vibrant yellow daffodils popping up throughout the grounds. It’s at this time of the year when everything is starting to bloom so think pastel palettes of pinks, purples, blues and whites and pretty seasonal flowers like hyacinths, garden roses, tulips and cherry blossom. If getting married in spring is your thing, you should definitely get inspired by the season!
Summer
A seemingly endless day of love and joy will put much less pressure on timeframes. Everything will be in full bloom at St Tewdrics House including our stunning wildflower meadow which is very popular with our couples and their chosen photographers as it offers the most beautiful, delicate backdrop for your wedding pictures.
Summer offers endless opportunities to get the perfect pictures, even at sunset, and the milder weather means your guests can wander in and out of the venue at leisure. One point to consider is the holidays you are competing with. Sending your invitations out early is a must as the more the merrier for the best day of your life!
Autumn
Your desire for an outdoor wedding venue can still happen if you choose a date around late September. This is a more predictable time of the year and we know how enchanting early autumn colours are – they contrast wonderfully with white or cream gowns. The temperature begins to cool as the days get shorter in the autumn months but you can always provide cosy blankets and hot chocolate to keep your guests warm if part of your wedding is outdoors.
The grounds at St Tewdrics House take on a completely different vibe in the autumn. Our magnificent red acer tree provides a dramatic backdrop for pictures and autumn leaves blanket the grounds in a carpet of orange and yellow. Don’t forget, September is ‘back to school’ time, so guests ideally need to know about your special date early – another reason to get organised and send out those ‘save the dates’.
Winter
Tis’ the season to party! Christmas is exciting yet also feels like a deadline as it needs to be perfect. If you plan a wonderfully festive and cosy wedding with enough time, your venue will be an occasion for family and friends to sit back and enjoy a Christmas get together. You can assume the weather will be cold, but St Tewdrics House looks spectacular on a frosty day and winter outfits in berry hues, vibrant reds and festive greens look fabulous on your guests and in your wedding photos.
You can create a beautiful atmosphere at a winter wedding with plenty of twinkling fairy lights and an abundance of candles casting a soft glow. Keep your guests warm and well-fed with hearty winter dishes on your wedding breakfast menu and mulled wine at the drinks reception, no one will be disappointed. And who doesn’t smile with joy when they see a magnificent Christmas tree – it’s the focal point of the impressive hallway at St Tewdrics House throughout December.
Each season offers a unique backdrop to the wedding you’ve always dreamed of, and we hope this blog gives you some ideas and inspiration. You are always welcome to join us for a personal tour of the house and grounds at St Tewdrics and we’d be delighted to help you choose the perfect season for your special day, just get in touch.
