St Tewdrics, The Perfect Venue
St Tewdrics House is owned and run by husband and wife team, Geraint Thomas OBE and Sara Thomas, along with Sara’s parents Eifion and Beth. The 19th Century Italianate Villa was transformed from a family home into a wedding venue after Geraint and Sara held their own wedding reception at St Tewdrics.
Geraint proposed to Sara in 2013 and, after the initial engagement celebrations, they set about looking for the perfect venue for their wedding reception. They looked at a number of wedding venues but struggled to find somewhere that offered everything they wanted.

Romantic, Italian Renaissance Style
“So many country houses that we looked at were vast and impersonal and, while beautiful, often had a traditional décor that didn’t fit with our style or image of what we wanted our wedding to be. We also felt that we were being tied into set food and drink packages that didn’t allow for our own personal ideas or requirements. We fell in love with St Tewdrics House as soon as we saw it. Its romantic, Italian renaissance style was just what we were looking for and the classic, yet modern interiors fitted perfectly with the look and feel we were trying to achieve.”
Sara and Geraint held their wedding reception at St Tewdrics House in October 2015, following a church ceremony. “St Tewdrics House was the perfect setting for what was the most amazing day. So many of our friends and family commented about how beautiful the venue was and we then began to think that we couldn’t be the only ones that were looking for this.
So that’s when the idea first came to mind to use St Tewdrics House as a wedding venue for others to enjoy. We want every bride and groom to enjoy St Tewdrics House and its romantic setting as much as we did and use it as their home from home on what is the most special day of their lives.”

Extensive Renovations
After deciding to open St Tewdrics House as a wedding venue, Sara, Geraint and their family started the extensive renovation project. The original stable block and courtyard was rebuilt to create what is now known as The Courtyard. The contemporary design retained many of the original features and it is now the perfect place for couples to celebrate with family and friends.
The tower, which had been derelict, was a major project and they decided to turn the iconic feature into a bedroom so that guests could wake up to the panoramic views from the top of the tower. It gives guests the wow factor and is now one of our favourite bedrooms!
The renovation project was completed in 2016 and on 22nd October 2016 St Tewdrics House opened its doors for the first wedding. Since then we have had the pleasure of helping many couples plan their dream wedding and have loved every minute.
Geraint Thomas OBE is the 2018 Tour De France winner, a race which saw him win 2 stages including on top of the iconic Alpe d’Huez – the first British rider ever to do so. Over his 12-year career as a professional cyclist he has become one of the sport’s most explosive, versatile, and celebrated riders. Away from the road, Geraint is a double Olympic Champion on the track.
