Behind the Scenes at St Tewdrics House: An Exclusive Interview with Lisa Harding, Creative Director & Founder of Lumi Events

St Tewdrics

Supplier Feature: Getting to Know Lumi Events

We love collaborating with the most talented creative partners to help every couple bring their dream day to life. One of those standout names is Lumi Events – the Pontyclun-based luxury design studio founded by Lisa Harding. Since starting from a laptop and a garage in 2016, Lumi has grown into one of South Wales’ most sought-after teams for full event design, venue styling, prop hire, and in-house florals (@lumieventflowers). They’ve been working with St Tewdrics since 2017 and now run a dedicated warehouse with a small, passionate core team.

We sat down with founder and Creative Director, Lisa Harding, to talk about the Lumi journey, her hands-on approach to transforming our Italianate Grade II listed house, and what’s coming for 2026/2027 weddings.

St Tewdrics House (STH):
Lisa, you founded Lumi Events in 2016 starting from a laptop and a garage. What inspired you to launch the business, and how has the journey evolved into the full-service luxury design studio you run today?

Lisa Harding:
We started in 2016 – Lumi’s just turned 10 years old! I was planning my own wedding and realised no one in Wales had really caught up with the Pinterest-style trends yet. I wanted brides to have more choice and to be able to do their own thing, so I decided to start my own business full-time right from the beginning, working out of my garage. We met St Tewdrics in 2017 and have now grown to two permanent members of staff (three including me). We hire seasonal temporary staff and even roped family in at the start. We also have a warehouse in Pontyclun.

STH: Lumi is now one of the most sought-after names for wedding styling and florals in South Wales. What does your role as Creative Director involve on a day-to-day basis, especially when transforming a wedding venue?

Lisa: Couples usually come in 8-12 months before the wedding to chat about their style, colour and theme. We get everything ready up to a month before, checking over all the details. In the week of the wedding we’re preparing flowers and getting things ready for the big day. I’m hands-on throughout the whole process from beginning to end. I never wanted to just be doing emails – I love having the choice to be this involved.

STH: You’ve styled many beautiful weddings right here at St Tewdrics. What first drew you to the house, and what do you love most about designing here?

Lisa: It’s the venue in general. The ceremony room (the courtyard) has the most lovely lighting that complements absolutely anything you put in there. In summer the gardens are stunning, and the way the flowers and curation work with the space is just beautiful.

STH: Your work spans full event design, venue styling, prop hire, and in-house florals. How do you approach the creative process when a couple books St Tewdrics – do you start with their story, the season, the venue itself, or a mix of all three?

Lisa: It’s a mix of everything – it really depends on the couple. We work from specifics to generalisations and always create mood boards so everyone is on the same page. There’s no room for error. Some couples need a bit more help with the designing, so it’s all about discovering exactly what they want.

STH: We see everything from romantic and whimsical to classic and even boldly unconventional designs in your portfolio. How do you help couples discover a look that feels completely authentic to them?

Lisa: We start with an initial conversation about how they feel and what they like. Every wedding needs to be completely individual, there are an infinite number of things you can do. We mix colours and add personal touches throughout the day, integrating them into every part of the wedding.

STH: Florals and foliage are a huge part of what you do. What wedding flower and styling trends are you most excited about for 2026 and 2027 weddings?

Lisa: Drapings! We’re seeing huge amounts of flowing material on the roof and throughout the venue. Draped fabric instead of traditional tablecloths is going to be a really big thing for 2026-2027.

STH: For couples planning their day at St Tewdrics, what’s one piece of advice you’d give them when thinking about décor, styling, and those all-important finishing touches?

Lisa: If you’re unsure, always keep it simple. Anything you do at St Tewdrics will automatically look better because of the incredible architecture – especially the staircase and the places where guests naturally gather.

STH: Finally, what’s next for Lumi Events? Any exciting new ideas, services, or developments on the horizon?

Lisa: We’re building on everything we’ve done so far and just getting better at what we do. Our goal is to keep providing an all-in-one service – all the creativity in one place.
